Job Description:   **Emergency Room Technician Lead-Woodlands (Nights) Full Time** **Description** **The WoodlandsHospital** A primary and secondary care hospital serving North Harris and Montgomery counties. Clinical services include cardiovascular services, diagnostic imaging, women’s services (digital mammography and bone density studies), neurosciences, pediatric care (Newborn and Level II nurseries) and surgery, pathology and pulmonary services, and sleep disorders. Clinical affiliations include The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Radiation Treatment Center, and Texas Children’s Hospital. **Position Summary:** Leads the daily activities of the Emergency Department patient care assistant staff; Responsible for ensuring high quality work from team members and is expected to provide the leadership necessary to ensure effective communications between management and team members. Responsible for implementing quality standards, policies and procedures. **Position Responsibilities:** 1. Provides directpatient care as delegated by RN and Medical Staff. Monitors and records vitalsigns, observes patients' physical, mental, and emotional condition and reportsany changes to the nursing or medical staff. Performs sterile procedures asdelegated by RN; Performs blood glucose testing using a blood glucose monitor;Performs ED Waived testing for urinalysis and urine pregnancy tests 2. Escorts patients toexam rooms. Performs and documents general therapeutic/diagnostic measures.Acts as a transporter; Assists with updating the ED Tracking board/Care Manager 3. Acts as unit clerk;Utilizes hospital information systems according to hospital policy. Utilizesthe ED Tracking board to improve patient flow; Performs data entry ordering asassigned by the nurse or physician 4. Communicates withpatients, families, physicians, staff nurses, and other departments and unitpersonnel and peers in an accurate, courteous, and professional manner, inaccordance with CHI St. Luke's core values and basics of Customer service 5. Identifies andManages problems associated with services rendered by PCA staff and Initiatesappropriate coaching, education, training, and corrective action/discussionplans. Evaluates department flow and services provided by the PCAs 6. Implement/monitordepartmental standards, protocols, policies and procedures, within scope ofprofessional practice, as directed or delegated by department manager **Qualifications** **Education:** High School Diploma/GED Required **Minimum Experience:** Two (2) years of related work experience. **Minimum Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:** Clinical competence in patient care including phlebotomy, sterile procedures, and infection control techniques consistent with established nursing standards and policies when delegated by the RN.
