Job Description:   **IR Technologist, Cath Lab** **Description** **Position Summary:** Assist physicians in Cardiac Cath Lab/EP with cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional procedures. Performs duties as scrub and monitoring staff. Provides radiation safety and general safety for themselves and patients. Provides patient and family education and supports customer satisfaction. Works as part of the Cath Lab team and supports nursing functions. Demonstrates and maintains all applicable competencies related to equipment and devices used in the Cath Lab. Performs with competency in code situations. Documents and evaluates the outcome of interventions. Must be Registered as an ARRT. Must maintain state license. Must become certified in advanced life support. One year Cath Lab or Radiology Specials experience preferred. RT/RCIS competency is validated by the Departmental Competency Based Orientation (CBO) and annual competence assessments must be maintained as deemed appropriate by the Cath Lab Manager. Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines, and understand the Associate Handbook and all hospital policies. **Working Relationships:** Responsible to the Manager. Works on a daily basis with nursing services, physicians, and other hospital staff. Will have contact with executive staff, repair persons, patient support services, and sales representatives. **Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:** Must be able to lift 25 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently. Must be able to occasionally push/pull up to 300 lbs using a force of 58 lbs. Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk (wearing a led apron) and carry 10 lbs up to 50 feet. Must be able to occasionally crouch and squat. Must be able to continuously rotate trunk and reach all directions. Must be able to perform difficult manipulative skills, and perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination, and arm-hand steadiness. Must be able to visually discriminate far away and close objects and colors, and hear normal sounds. May be exposed to blood, body tissues, and fluids regularly, as well as other hazardous waste materials. Must be able to tolerate environmental temperature fluctuations. Must be able to wear lead apron while standing for long periods. May be exposed to radiation, toxins, dust, cytotoxins, and/or poisonous substances.
