Job Description:   **EMT DISPATCHER (EMS) Full Time - Variable Shifts (2510001243)** **Description** **Job Summary:** The Dispatcher performs various duties assisting the EMS Department and the Security Department in communication and recording responsibilities. The Dispatcher’s primary functions are to receive calls and obtain pertinent information in order to dispatch appropriate personnel and equipment. The Dispatcher maintains radio communications with the party on-line and with the ambulance once it is dispatched to maintain adequate patient care prior to ambulance arrival. **Essential Functions:** + Dispatch emergency services in accordance with the appropriate state guidelines, FCC rules and regulations and facility policies. + Must respond quickly to requests for assistance and deal effectively with stressful situations. + Recognize critical needs of transport and notify appropriate supervisor. + Successfully complete appropriate forms as required by policy, timeframe and format. **Qualifications** **Education:** + High school graduate or equivalent. + Graduate of an Emergency Medical Dispatch Course preferred but required within first year of employment. **Experience:** + At least one year previous emergency dispatcher experience is required. + At least one year previous experience with multi-line telephone operation. **License/Certification:** + EMD certification preferred but required within 1 year of employment + American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required. **Additional Responsibilities:** + Demonstrates a commitment to service, organization values and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor at all times. + Adheres to and exhibits our core values: **Reverence:** Having a profound spirit of awe and respect for all creation, shaping relationships to self, to one another and to God and acknowledging that we hold in trust all that has been given to us. **Integrity:** Moral wholeness, soundness, uprightness, honesty and sincerity as a basis of trustworthiness. **Compassion:** Feeling with others, being one with others in their sorrows and joys, rooted in the sense of solidarity as members of the human community. **Excellence:** Outstanding achievement, merit, virtue; continually surpassing standards to achieve/maintain quality. + Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times. + Adheres to organizational and department specific safety standards and guidelines. + Works collaboratively and supports efforts of team members. + Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, residents, visitors, staff and the broader health care community. _Catholic Health Initiatives and its organizations are Equal Opportunity Employers.
