Job Description:   **Emergency Room Tech, Emergency Room Department, Days, PRN** **Description** This role is responsible for providing care to assigned emergency department patients in a caring, safe and efficient manner under the supervision of an RN. Duties are performed according to KYOne mission, facility standards, procedures and patient care standards and processes. Assists nurses, physicians, patients and families as needed **·** **Practice patient experience best practices of AIDET, safetyrounds, white board and shift report** **·** **Recognizes changes in patient status and reportsappropriate information to registered nurse.** **·** **Assists with admission, transportation and discharge ofpatients** **·** **Assists patient with dressing and undressing and placingpatient on monitor** + Document in Med-tech accuratelymeasures and records vital signs, I&O + Provides patient with nourishmentunder the direction of the RN **·** **Assists patient with elimination/toileting needs** **·** **Assists patients in transferring, repositioning, alignmentand ambulation** **·** **Accommodates patient’s needs through respondingappropriately to patient’s verbal/nonverbal expressions of needs** + Safeguards patient’s property + Maintains patient’s self-esteem,privacy and confidentiality of personal information... + Assures patient’s rights areprotected and that all patients, families, and significant others are madeaware of patient’s rights. + Receives and shares information,observes and reports patients condition and any change of status toregistered nurse + Provides Safety, Sitter servicesfor the patient as assigned + Demonstrates and practicesappropriate hand hygiene in delivery of patient care + Facilitates turnover of roomsaccording to infection control standards + Responds quickly to patient’srequests for assistance + Keeps rooms stocked with adequatesupplies + Keep Emergency Department egressclear and department carts in their designated area + Performs phlebotomy, bloodglucose, Cardiac Markers monitoring as appropriate + Perform cultures, HCG, and Urinesas trained + Use of least restrictiverestraints and alternatives restraints + Performs wound cleaning andirrigation, assembles equipment for wound suturing.Assist with procedures as directedwithin scope of practice. + Assist charge nurse with Rapidresponse (MET) **Note:** T-bed Tech only + Accurately performs post mortemcare + Correctly applies upper and lowerextremitysplints including crutch walkingteaching as appropriate + Demonstrates appropriate rolefunction during code procedures + Performs visual acuities anddocuments + Accurately performs 12 lead EKG **·** **Other duties as assigned by Charge nurse or nurse providingcare for a patient** **Qualifications** **Education/ Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):** High School Diploma or GED required. CNA or EMT training preferred. Effective September 1, 2017, current BLS through the American Heart Association, or a previously approved provider, will be required before employment. **Experience (requiredand preferred):** + High School Graduate orequivalent, completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant. MedicalAssistant or EMT Training Program or Nursing Students who have completedFundamentals of Nursing Course from an accredited school of nursing. Previousexperience with computer and basic equipment. * For those hired after November 14, 2016, KentuckyOne Health will verify education required by the position, through primary source verification, prior to beginning employment.
