Job Description:   **Supervisor - Clinical Pastoral Education (PRN)** **Description** **Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center** A quaternary care facility that is home of the Texas Heart® Institute, a world-class cardiovascular research and education institution founded in 1962 by Denton A. Cooley, MD–consistently ranked as one of the nation’s best in Cardiovascular Services & Heart Surgery. The first hospital in Texas and the Southwest designated a Magnet® hospital for Nursing Excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, receiving the award four consecutive times. Baylor St. Luke’s is home to three freestanding community emergency centers (Holcombe, Pearland, and San Felipe) offering adult and pediatric care–treating more than 51,000 patients annually. The hospital holds a collaborative partnership with Baylor College of Medicine and affiliations with The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, The University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston), Houston Baptist University, and Prairie View A&M University. **Position Summary** Works with the Manager for Clinical Pastoral Education to organize and administer the CPE program. Clinical Pastoral Education at CHI St. Luke's Hospital is fully accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. The CPE program is a post-graduate level learning experience that involves classroom instruction, group learning opportunities, and individual supervision of the students' clinically based ministry to the patients, family, and staff of both CHI St. Luke's and Texas Children's Hospital. **Qualifications** **Minimum Qualifications** Minimum Education: Master's Degree; Certified as a full supervisor by the ACPE, Inc., as well as Board Certified by the APC Minimum years in previous to employment: Two (2) years of relevant experience **Position Responsibilities** 1. Assists in developing, administering and directing a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)Program of the highest caliber and in full accordance with the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE, Inc.)Standards. Assists in ensuring the Program's continuous accreditation and current membership in the ACPE, Inc. 2. Creates a collegial environment for the shared leadership and professional oversight by CPE staff of the residents and interns in the Program. 3. Participates in ACPE, Inc. and the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), as a member in good standing. 4. Creates and Implements a healthy educational environment for all chaplain residents and interns in which pastoral skills can be enhanced and pastoral care to patients, families and staff can be optimized. 5. Promotes and Maintains good public relations in order to fully integrate the CPE program into the vision of the department and the mission of the hospital. 6. Guides the development, compilation and analysis of pastoral care statistical data. 7. Maintains, interprets and teaches hospital policy. 8. Provides pastoral care support in assigned areas for both patients and staff. 9. Participates in hospital committees in order to maintain CPE's integrated position with the larger system **Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** 1.
