Job Description:   **EEG TECH (SV HOT SPRINGS), RESPIRATORY CARE, FULL TIME, DAYS** **Description** JOB SUMMARY: In accordance with our mission and core values, the electroneurodiagnostic technician will perform routine, specialized and intraoperative electroneurodiagnostic procedures for a variety of diagnosis and disorders, will perform routine and intraoperative evoked potential tests, carotid doppler, transcranial ultrasound, and will assist the physicians with EMG/NCV procedures with little or no supervision. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Performs and Interprets Electroneurodiagnostic Tests/Monitoring Perform routine and portable EEGs on adults, children and neonates, following ASET standards orders and recognizing age-related patterns. Perform advanced level EEGs for post trauma patients, or patients with I.C.P. monitors Perform advanced level EEGS for determination of E.C.I. for all age groups following ASET standards. Perform EEG monitoring during W.A.D.A., P.E.T. scans, tilt table test, advising attending physician of significant changes/vital information. Perform intraoperative monitoring during cerebral aneurysm, AAA repairs, carotid endarectomies and temporal lobectomies Perform routine and portable evoked potentials on all modalities Perform advanced level of SSEP monitoring during trauma cases, fusions and scoliosis repair Perform routine and portable carotid Doppler/ultrasound studies Assists physician with routine, portable, and surgical EMG/NCV studies Adheres to strict OR policies regarding contamination and safety Participates in daily, after hours, weekend and holiday call responding to STAT intraoperative call within one hour 1. Operates and Maintains Monitoring Equipment and Supplies Demonstrates working knowledge and operational and technical aspects of all electroneurodiagnostic equipment including routine maintenance and calibration. Applies trouble shooting methods, contacts manufacturer or biomed as needed Archives data as needed Assembles videotapes, files, EEG summaries and evoked print outs for interpretation Cleans sanitizes and sterilizes electrodes per lab protocol **Qualifications** MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school graduate or equivalent, preferably with college level courses with emphasis on related medical or technical sciences PLUS Successful completion of Electroneurodiagnostic exam administered by the Americal Board of Electroneurodiagnostic/EEG technologist Experience: Prefer five years experience as an Electroneurodiagnostic Tech including training and three years in intermediate and advanced Electroneurodiagnostic/OR procedures and demonstrated preceptor ability. Physical Requirements: Tasks require hand/eye coordination, computer skills, and ability to see, hear, smell, and speak. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. There is potential for exposure to respiratory hazards, blood borne pathogens, chemical hazards and body fluids. Skills: Ability to perform and interpret routine and intraoperative electroneurodiagnostic procedures and identify normal and abnormal activity including seizure activity. Ability to perform routine/intraoperative evoked potential tests, carotid Doppler studies, transcranial ultrasound, and ability to assist the physicians with EMB/NCV procedures. Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to communicate effectively with nursing staff and physicians.
