Job Description:   Applications received by 9/10/2017 will be given first consideration. Applications received after this date may be considered until the position is filled. This is a temporary teaching position ending in June 2018.

Nursing faculty perform duties and responsibilities under the general direction of the Vice President of Instruction and be responsible primarily to the Dean of the Health Sciences, Education and Wellness Institute (HSEWI) and the Associate Dean of Nursing. The Nursing Department includes an Associate's Degree (ADN) program, an RN-BSN program, an RN Refresher program, Continuing Nursing Education (CNE), and a Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) program. Faculty in this position can expect to have an opportunity to teach in multiple programs, both in the classroom and in clinical settings. Classes are offered days, evenings and weekends.

Perform student-centered teaching and promote learning excellence with a culturally diverse student body on-campus, online, and in clinical settings.

Utilize a variety of teaching and learning strategies/techniques, including simulation, face-to-face and hybrid (combination of face-to-face and online) class delivery.

Practice cultural competency knowledge and skills, or demonstrate a willingness to gain competency.

Demonstrate strong commitment to student success through fostering a positive and supportive learning environment where diversity and pluralism are advanced.

Build equitable and pluralistic learning communities within the classroom/laboratory setting.

Build collaborative relationships between the College and the healthcare communities by assisting with planning clinical experiences and finding new clinical sites.

Provide timely verbal and written assessments of student performance.

Provide culturally-responsible advising and mentoring to prospective students and students enrolled in the program, such as navigating obstacles that underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations may experience in college (e.g. students with disabilities, students of color, first generation college students, LBGTQia students, Veterans, 2nd language learners, etc.)

Mentor part-time/adjunct clinical faculty.

Maintain effective communication with diverse faculty, staff, students, and clinical partners.

Actively and effectively participate in faculty group processes.

Review content of assigned courses and integrate content relevant to the latest research developments, recommendations, and practice in the profession.

Participate in on-going curriculum development, revision, and program evaluation/assessment that supports the principles of equity and open-access.

Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes.

Contribute to policy and procedural matters of the college through participation in college/institute/program committees and through individual projects to facilitate institutional effectiveness.

Participate in professional development activities in order to maintain professional qualifications and clinical competency in nursing education; engage in self-reflection and self-evaluation.

Participate in college-wide effort to dismantle barriers that can impact underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations.

Participate in community organizations, events or in related projects and promote collaborative relationships with high schools and four-year colleges/universities.

Perform other pertinent contractual duties & functions that may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in Nursing or related field from an accredited institution

Current Washington state RN license or be eligible for licensure

Philosophy of education appropriate to teach in a diverse (multi-cultural, multi-ability) classroom and an advocate for pluralism

Salary / Bonus:   Annual salary is based on a 173-day contract with a minimum of $55,354.06; contracts with shorter lengths are prorated.
