Job Description:   **Emergency Room Paramedic Lufkin (Full time nights)** **Description** **Memorial Lufkin** Memorial Lufkin is a 271-bed acute care facility serving Angelina County and surrounding counties offers an array of medical and surgical services, including the area’s first dedicated heart and stroke care center, an award-winning Cancer Center and the area’s most advanced imaging centers. The hospital also is known for the area’s only comprehensive diabetes, heart and stroke education center. Additional services include orthopedic care, women’s and children’s services, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, robotic surgery, wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, kidney and diabetes treatment, sleep disorders treatment, and express lab. Position Summary: The ER (Emergency Room) -Paramedic assists in the delivery of patient care and services to defined patient groups and their families under direction of the Registered Nurse, Manager, Director and Coordinator. The EMT- Paramedic practices Relationship Centered Care in collaboration with CHI St. Luke’s Hospital Systems values of Reverence, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence. Position Responsibilities: 1. Functions as a team member, responding willingly to colleagues needs for assistance and partnership. 2. Coordinates the patient work flow, problem-solves, manages several ongoing priorities with minimal supervision. 3. Accurately sorts patients, according to severity, upon arrival; initiating and notifying the licensed nurse of patient requiring immediate attention. 4. Observes patients, making hourly rounds, for condition change and reports observations, conditions and problems of patients to the licensed nurse. 5. Repeats vital signs according to policy. 6. Responds to customer’s needs as indicated or directed 7. Accompanies and monitors high risk patients out of the department as delegated. 8. Responds to the nurse call system and contacts nursing personnel as appropriate. 9. Performs and records diagnostic measures, treatment and procedures, as determined by skills training and validation (i.e., vital signs, 12 Lead EKG, phlebotomy, I.V. catheter insertion, splinting, specimen collection, immobilization by backboard) in accordance with established policies and procedures. 10. Reports all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety concern. 11. Communicates with peers and management regarding any safety concerns identified in the work place. **Qualifications** Minimum Qualifications: Education Level High School Diploma or GED with at least 1 year experience as a Paramedic Licensure/Certification Possession of National Paramedic Registry. Valid, current, State of Texas Paramedic License. Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certificates.
