Job Description:   **EKG Technologist I Nights - Full Time** **Description** Patients Medical Center (PMC) provides inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services to residents of Pasadena, Deer Park, La Porte, Baytown, and Clear Lake. The facility includes 53 medical/surgical beds, eight ICU beds and three endoscopy rooms, and offers a range of primary and specialized services—wound care, general surgery, gastroenterology, occupational health, heart and vascular, women’s services, diagnostic imaging, outpatient rehab services, and sleep disorders. Assists physicians in diagnosing as well as treating heart or cardiac, and blood vessel or peripheral vascular ailments; Responsible for the total care of test devices or equipment and for explaining procedures and processes to patients and comparing finding to the standards to determine any problems. **Qualifications** Minimum Job Qualifications Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED; Successfully completed a basic EKG course and passed the required examination; CPR certified; Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) Minimum years in field previous to employment: None required Position Responsibilities 1. Performs routine EKG's and rhythm strips 2. Responds to Stat EKG's and attends CODE BLUE situations 3. Observes and reports potentially lethal arrhythmias (critical Values) to the nurse or physician 4. Completes preparation of 12 lead EKG tracings for processing and physician interpretation 5. Charges for tests completed 6. Edits EKG's interpreted by the cardiologist and Prepares for distribution to the patient's medical record 7. Prepares, connects, and disconnects holter equipment 8. Maintains equipment by daily checking, stocking and cleaning 9. Investigates minor equipment malfunction and Implements corrective action, reports major malfunction to Biomedical Engineering 10.
