For more information, visit online at CHIhealth.com._ **Job Summary/Essential Duties:** 1. Functions within the scope of practice of a Paramedic as defined within Iowa and Nebraska state regulations. This position does not take a patient assignment. They are in a intervention role. 2. Provides patient care and performs patient care procedures: * EKG * Accu checks * CPR * Crutches * ace bandage application * splint application * wound cleansing * dressing, * immobilization * medication administration under medical/nursing direction (IM, IV, oral ASA and Tylenol, oral analgesics) * IV insertions and IO insertions * foley catheterization * intubation (only at the direct request and supervision of a ED physician who is present in the room). * re-assessment of patient condition and status. 3. Responds to Code Blue in the ED and, when requested, on the hospital campus. 4. Provides patient transportation within the Emergency Department and on the hospital campus as requested. 5. Must have and maintain active membership on a Rescue Service in the state of Nebraska. This is not required for Iowa. 6. WILL NOT perform triage, initial patient assessment, provide dismissal instructions, give antibiotics or thrombolytics. 6. Completes medical record to indicate treatments, procedures, and medications administered or performed. Authorized to make entries in the medical record, consistent with and limited to the scope of the job duties and any applicable licensure. 7. Consults as needed with supervising nurses and ED physician regarding patient condition and treatment. **Qualifications** **Education/Licensure** **·** **Must have a valid certificate to function as a EMT-P (EMT-Paramedic) in the state of Nebraska or Iowa.** **Additional requirements include:** **BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire.** **Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following:** **American Red Cross:** **CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute:** **CPR, PRO, must say “Professional Level-with AED”, and American Heart Association:** **Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.** **ACLS or ACLS instructor certification is required within 6 months.** **Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following:** **American Heart Association:** **Advanced Cardiac Life Support, American Safety and Health Institute:** **ACLS, American College of Surgeons:** **ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) and American College of Emergency Physician:** **ACLS** **PALS (Pediatric Cardiac Life Support) or PALS instructor certification required within 6 months.** **Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following:** **American Heart Association:** **Pediatric Advanced Life Support, American Safety and Health Institute:** **PALS, Emergency Nurses Association:** **Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), American Academy of Pediatrics:** **Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP), and American Academy of Pediatrics/American College of Emergency Physicians:** **APLS.** **Job** **Patient Care Support** **Primary Location** **IOWA-COUNCIL BLUFFS-MERCY CB** **Daily Schedule** **10a-7pm** **Scheduled Hours per 2-week Pay Period** **72** **Weekends Required** **Every Third** **Req ID:** 2017-R0122039
