Job Description:   **24500 EDUCATION COORD** **Description** Job Summary: Responsible for planning, organizing, conducting, and evaluating educational and training programs for the hospital staff; coordinates the development and implementation of patient education programs; coordinates orientation of new staff; assists with planning community education programs. Essential Duties: 1. Evaluates, plans, develops and conducts hospital-wide educational training programs to enhance capabilities of personnel to perform their jobs. 2. Develops and secures approval for long- and short-term goals and objectives for the hospital's education and training program. 3. Maintains required education records for validation of survey requirements. 4. Assists with development and updates of policies, procedures and protocols for nursing, based on current standards of care, regulations, evidence based practice, and to be in compliance as required by surveying agencies. 5. Leads, coordinates, and assists with presenting annual competency training for all RN’s, LPN’s and C.N.A.’s. 6. Organizes and/or conducts community health screening clinics and educational programs. Schedules and provides community CPR and First Aide courses on a regular basis. 7. Assist in development of CHI Mercy Health’s strategic plan as needed. 8. Performs other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** Training and Experience: College degree in nursing and two years of related experience. CPR, ACLS and NR instructor or eligible for certification. Experience in administering education and facilitating entire process. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Requires the ability to independently plan, organize, develop, conduct and evaluate an effective education and training program. Requires the ability to relate to people in a manner to gain their confidence and establish their support. Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates: Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse. Current State License required Working Conditions: Works in a clean, well lighted, heated, and ventilated office or teaching facility. Flexibility with schedule to provide some evening classes and training. Physical Requirements: Light physical demand requiring moving of equipment related to instruction, standing, sitting and walking.
