Job Description:   **Director-Supply Chain (Receiving & Distribution) Full Time** **Description** Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center - A quaternary care facility that is home of the Texas Heart® Institute, a world-class cardiovascular research and education institution founded in 1962 by Denton A. Cooley, MD–consistently ranked as one of the nation’s best in Cardiovascular Services & Heart Surgery. The first hospital in Texas and the Southwest designated a Magnet® hospital for Nursing Excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, receiving the award four consecutive times. Baylor St. Luke’s is home to three freestanding community emergency centers (Holcombe, Pearland, and San Felipe) offering adult and pediatric care–treating more than 51,000 patients annually. The hospital holds a collaborative partnership with Baylor College of Medicine and affiliations with The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, The University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston), Houston Baptist University, and Prairie View A&M University. Position Summary Primarily responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and overseeing the activities and personnel of the receiving, inventory, and distribution functions for a given facility/region. Maintains a cost effective and efficient materials system to insure that necessary supplies are available at each facility when and where they are needed, and that they are appropriately accounted for. Responsible for managing shipping and receiving, storage, distribution, and patient charging of equipment and supplies throughout the given facility/region. Responsible for maintaining and reporting accurate inventories. Develops and implements strategies, policies, and procedures to reduce supply costs while ensuring quality primarily through the facilitation of value analysis teams. **Qualifications** Minimum Job Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline Minimum years in field previous to employment: Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in Supply Chain within a health care facility system or other relevant experience Preferred years in field previous to employment: * Established leadership skills * Knowledge of coaching and mentoring best practices * Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Project, Access, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint * Strong written and oral communications skills * Ability to influence and motivate others in order to achieve targets within a determined time period * Ability to prepare quick pointed summaries for executives and stakeholders * Ability to deal with conflict and difficult people Position Responsibilities 1. Ensures department comply with established policies, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental, and infection control policies and procedures 2. Selects, orientates, and assigns department staff (either directly or through subordinate supervisors) 3. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and initiates recommendations for personnel actions (either directly or through subordinate supervisors) 4. Prepares and submits department budget and ensures that the department operate within that budget 5. Promotes improvement efforts throughout organization to streamline processes, optimize financial performance, and identify areas of general inefficiency 6. Communicates supply chain initiatives and progress to supply chain management, facility leadership, and local supply chain 7. Participates in required meetings and attends/serves on professional/civic service organizations as a hospital representative 8.
