Job Description:   **Monitor Tech-Telemetry Monitoring (6a-6p) Full Time** **Description** **The WoodlandsHospital** A primary and secondary care hospital serving North Harris and Montgomery counties. Clinical services include cardiovascular services, diagnostic imaging, women’s services (digital mammography and bone density studies), neurosciences, pediatric care (Newborn and Level II nurseries) and surgery, pathology and pulmonary services, and sleep disorders. Clinical affiliations include The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Radiation Treatment Center, and Texas Children’s Hospital. **PositionSummary:** Provides continuous observation of monitored EKG patterns of patients on telemetry and reports significant information to appropriate nursing personnel; Functions within a designated hospital area to assist nursing personnel in the close observation in the monitoring of patients. **PositionResponsibilities:** 1. Continuousobservation of monitored EKG patterns and pulse oximetry as ordered. Sets up,calibrates and Maintains settings and alarms on telemetry module. Obtainsrhythm strip at beginning of shift, on admission and whenever changes occur.Labels strip with patient identification, time, lead monitored, PR interval, STinterval, QRS interval 2. Trouble shootstelemetry equipment, Ensures monitors are functioning properly, ensuretelemetry supplies are readily available. Accounts for all telemetrytransmitters, Verifies daily telemetry charges 3. Identifies changes inrate, rhythm, or pattern, notifying RN of these changes. Responds appropriatelyto emergency situations, runs a continuous EKG strip and notifies appropriatestaff 4. Assists in answeringtelephone, Ensures pull down desks are in upright position after posting EKGstrips on patient chart, keeps work area neat and clean, no food or drink inwork station, Ensures transmitters are properly cleaned between patients,electrical cords off floor 5. Demonstrates acommitment to personal growth and development by completing annual mandatoryin-services and Code Validation within given time frame, attends unit-basedin-services, attends monthly departmental meetings. Demonstrates flexibility inresponding to unit/service needs, i.e., floating to other areas **Qualifications** **Education:** High School Diploma/GED Required **Minimum Experience:** One (1) year of experience as a monitor tech, EMT, or paramedic **Minimum Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:** Demonstrate knowledge in the area of EKG interpretation through the following: a) Pass the Basic Dysrhythmia Rhythm Interpretation Exam b) Successfully complete the Basic Dysrhythmia Interpretation Course (if applicable) **Job** Nursing Support **Primary Location** TEXAS-THE WOODLANDS-ST LUKE WOODLANDS **Daily Schedule** 6a-6p **Scheduled Hours per 2-week Pay Period** 72 **Weekends Required** Occasional **Req ID:** 2017-R0117645
