Job Description:   **Educator - Pastoral Student II** **Description** **Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center** A quaternary care facility that is home of the Texas Heart® Institute, a world-class cardiovascular research and education institution founded in 1962 by Denton A. Cooley, MD–consistently ranked as one of the nation’s best in Cardiovascular Services & Heart Surgery. The first hospital in Texas and the Southwest designated a Magnet® hospital for Nursing Excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, receiving the award four consecutive times. Baylor St. Luke’s is home to three freestanding community emergency centers (Holcombe, Pearland, and San Felipe) offering adult and pediatric care–treating more than 51,000 patients annually. The hospital holds a collaborative partnership with Baylor College of Medicine and affiliations with The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, The University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston), Houston Baptist University, and Prairie View A&M University. **Position Summary** Chaplain Residents provide pastoral care to patients, families, and staff; they also participate in the curriculum of the Clinical Pastoral Education program. This position helsp the hospital to fulfill two of its primary missions - patient care and education. **Qualifications** **Minimum Qualifications** Education: Baccalaureate degree and a Master of Divinity degree. Exceptions are made on a case basis. Minimum Experience: 3 years **Position Responsibilities** 1. Supports patients, families and staff to ensure that both their personal and spiritual needs are met while in the hospital. 2. Provides in-house, on-call coverage on a 24-hour, 7 day a week basis by responding to all codes, deaths andother emergencies. 3. Provides leadership for worship services to help ensure that the worship needs of patients, families and staff are met. 4. Provides sacramental ministry to patients, families and staff. 5. Develops and maintains professional relationships with members of the hospital staff in order to ensure that the Clinical Pastoral Education program is integrated into the hospital. 6.
