For more information, visit online at Job Summary: To competently perform sterile processing service tasks including receiving, decontamination, packaging, assembly, sterilization, storage and distribution of instruments, supplies and equipment. Essential Duties: + Cleans all sterilizers, sinks, cabinet tops and all other equipment used in the processing area on a routine basis as established by policies and procedures. + Orders supplies used in cleaning, tray assembly, and sterilization of items processed in the department, as assigned by supervisor. + Cleans and decontaminates by hand washing and/or washing by machine. Decontaminates patient care equipment and supplies such as basins, infusion pumps, syringes, and so forth; with prepared antiseptic solutions/detergents. Lubricates instruments with appropriate solution as necessary, per manufacturer’s recommendations. + Cleans and decontaminates by hand washing and/or washing by machine as necessary/recommended. Cleans surgical equipment and instruments such as case carts, lab sets, orthopedic instruments, and the like with prepared antiseptic solutions and detergents. + Disassembles surgical instrumentation per manufacturer’s recommendation when cleaning and reassembles per manufacturer's instructions. Examines function ability of all instrumentation, assembles into trays, wraps, labels, seals packages, and sterilizes according to established procedures. + Reports all broken/non-functional/un-safe supplies and instrumentation to sterile processing supervisor. + Prepares packs of supplies and instruments for sterilization by assembling per predetermined instructions, wrapping, labeling and sealing packs. + Places articles in the sterilizers and operates equipment according to manufacturer's instructions. + Sterilizes instruments, equipment, and supplies; such as surgical packs, instrument trays, and rubber tubing; using steam, low temperature, gas sterilizer, or disinfects with antiseptic solutions. As determined by manufacturer + Performs simple repairs on surgical instruments and patient equipment and as needed. Refers more complex problems (e.g., sterilizer break down) to supervisor and biomedical personnel. + Monitors and records time, temperature, biological indicators, and Bowie Dick test packs in order to assure sterilization parameters have been met. Notifies Processing Supervisor of any irregularities. + Preforms all other duties as assigned by department supervisor or surgical director.

1600-2030, Call one night per week. Eight hour shift every seventh Saturday, On Call Sunday - holiday rotation **Qualifications** QUALIFICATIONS: _Education_ + Completion of high school. _License/Certification_ + Expectation of acquiring certification within a year of hire. _Experience_ + Prior sterile processing experience preferred, not mandatory. + Healthcare experience preferred, especially surgical. _Skills_ + Positive, collaborative attitude. Must be open to change. + Analytical ability necessary in order to identify problems with patient care equipment, sterilizers, and instruments. + Interpersonal skills necessary in order to help orient new employees, inform other Processing Technicians of procedural changes and exchange information with all departments served. + Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
