For more information, visit online at PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Processes samples for Micro testing exam in a safe and timely manner following established procedures and with direction from Lead personnel. Processing includes handling clinical samples, inoculating culture media, preparing and staining slides for examination and preparing samples for referral. 2. Follows LEAN Principles and standard work, Adheres to First in First Out and prioritizes sensitive specimens. Answers telephone using key phrasing in a prompt and courteous manner. Follows job guidance sheets and gives input to improve processes. Follows dept specific safety and infection control programs. 3. Performs all computer functions inherent to the position including entry codes, specimen receipt confirmation, collection prints, unreceived prints & comments. Performs quality control of reagents and preventative maintenance on instruments to assure proper function. Records results in accordance with good laboratory practice and reports variance to lead personnel in a timely manner. 4. Maintains supplies necessary for the performance of duties by checking inventory, ordering supplies as needed and reporting supply problems to lead personnel. **Qualifications** QUALIFICATIONS Experience Previous laboratory experience, particularly any utilizing basic microbiological techniques, preferred. Education/Licensure Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent required. Biology or microbiology degree preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Ability Must have good communication skills, both interpersonal, as well as telephone. Must demonstrate traits of a high level of motivation, team orientation, and treating others with dignity and respect, at the same time expecting to be treated with dignity and respect. Working Conditions: Normal laboratory environment. Exposure to chemical and biological hazards.
