For more information, visit online at Job Summary/Essential Duties: + Incorporates Alegent Health’s mission, vision and values in all aspects of daily work. + Functions within the scope of practice of a Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) as defined within state regulations. + Performs/directs patient care services including, but not limited to, admission interview, assessment, accurate documentation and maintain timely patient flow. + Provides patient care and performs patient care procedures, including wound cleansing and dressing, immobilization, and re-assessment of patient condition and status. AEMT may medical administration under medical direction and IV insertions. + Provides any and all BLS interventions including but not limited to oral-tracheal intubation and automatic cardiac defibrillation. + Performs role of EMT or AEMT during Trauma Alerts. + Consults as needed with Ambulance Team Lead, Nurses and Clinic Providers regarding patient condition and treatment. + Screens patient care to ensure priority is provided to patients in an emergency situation.

12 & 24 hour shifts as well as day and night shift rotations **Qualifications** QUALIFICATIONS: Experience * Minimum 6 months experience in pre-hospital setting is preferred. * Previous hospital experience as a nurse extender within past 48 months helpful Education and/or Licensure-Certification: Required: * Must be at least 21 years of age. Must posses a current EMT, EMTI, or EMTP certification. Must possess a current Type D (Chauffeur) Drivers License or a Nebraska type O Drivers License and provide a copy. * BLS certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say “Professional Level-with AED”, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. * Must obtain and maintain State of Iowa Limited Practice Radiographer Certification within 12 months. Knowledge/Skill/Abilities: Knowledge of: * Have knowledgeable of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards. * Must demonstrate high level of motivation, team orientation; professionalism and place a high value on treating other with dignity and respect. * Possess strong assessment and prioritization in skills; BLS certification, good communication skills, problem solving abilities and professional trust. * Has ability to function in a fast paced dynamic environment. * Must understand common safety hazards and precautions to establish safe work environments and patient care environment. * Must understand organizational policies, procedures, and regulations. * Organizational policies, regulations and procedures * Medical equipment and instruments * Risk management, quality improvement and infection control * ICD-9 and CPT coding skills * Insurance protocols * Radiology equipment * Radiology safety hazards * Body mechanics and patient movement Skills as demonstrated through: * Knowledge of medical assistant theory and practice * Continuous accurate verbal and written communication * Establishing and maintaining cooperative and collaborative working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public * Continuous time, resource and task management * X-ray patient positioning Ability to: * Provide compassionate, empathetic patient care * React calmly, professionally in emergency situations, and in times of conflict resolution * Work closely with the providers responding appropriately and timely to provider(s) requests * Willingness to learn and apply computer processes to daily operations * Apply all knowledge and skill requirements Consistently adheres to and demonstrates our Core Values of Reverence, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence . _Catholic Health Initiatives and its organizations are Equal Opportunity Employers.
